The Force, it’s the same as magic, right?

The ForceI was talking to a top hip-hop artist a while back. We were discussing magic, numinous energy and chi – chi being the life-force energy found in Chinese acupuncture, qigong and kung fu, etc.

“It’s all referring to the same thing, right?” he said.

“Yeah, in the end it’s all energetic fields,” I replied.

He’s done a lot of work with chi, as he’s long been into Taoism. He was saying how the “Force” in the Star Wars movies was based on the idea of chi and the Tao.

“Before I made it,” he said. “I was doin’ a lot of channeling the force or chi to help my act get noticed and my records played.”

He’s not alone. A lot of music artists use magic or other subliminal means to elevate their careers. Jay-Z, for example, has utilized esoteric means to access his daemon (genius or subconscious) within. You can see evidence for this in his lyrics and videos. Exploring the esoteric helps such artists flow with the great numinous of the Tao and thus puts them on the right path in life – the path that fits their individual “essence,” which lies beyond personality and ego.
