Is rapper Jay-Z a member of the Illuminati?
One of the main symbols associated with the Illuminati is the Eye in the Triangle (“all-seeing eye”), seen on American dollar bills, and considered by many to symbolize the “eye of Lucifer.”
On Jay-Z’s 1996 track D’Evils he says: “Illuminati want my mind, soul and body. Secret societies trying to keep their eye on me.”
This is seen by conspiracy theorists as an open admission that the rap star is at the very least associated with the Illuminati, if not a fully-fledged member.
So what is the Illuminati?
It was actually a real secret society. It was founded on May 1, 1776, in Bavaria, by Adam Weishaupt (d. 1830), a canon law at the University of Ingolstadt. The movement, which was influenced by Freemasonry, was made up of freethinkers inspired by ideas coming out of the Age of Enlightenment.
Over the last 200 years or so, however, the Illuminati has come to be seen as a sinister underground occult group thought to shape the world through governments and various front organizations. Many notable people are believed to be (or been) members, including Barack Obama, Winston Churchill, the Bush family, the Rothschild family and David Rockefeller.
Bloggers and conspiracy theorists insist that Jay-Z is heavily into the occult and that the video for “Run This Town” (2009) confirms it. Throughout the video, Jay-Z and his collaborators, singer Rihanna and rapper Kanye West, all hold their fingers in a triangle shape in front of their eyes. It is the symbol of Jay-Z’s record label Roc-A-Fella. But as the Vigilant Citizen website – one of the main sources of music/Illuminati conspiracies – points out: It is very like the “eye in the pyramid” motif of the Illuminati.
Mitch Horowitz, author of Occult America: The Secret History Of How Mysticism Shaped Our Nation, (2009), reveals that the “eye in the pyramid” symbol is also associated with Freemasonry, another secretive organization, affiliated with the Illuminati and rumors of world domination.
“It’s a Freemasonic symbol,” he says. “What Jay-Z is referencing is that mysterious eye and pyramid that we find on the back of our dollar bills. It suggests that worldly achievement is incomplete without some mind of inner vision.”
Interestingly, Horowitz doesn’t see Freemasonry as a sinister conspiracy. He sees it as a very positive organization. “It was a radical organization that came out of the Reformation. And at the founding of [the USA], Masonry was an organization that claimed the allegiance of some of the Founding Fathers. It’s principles were of religious toleration [and] religious liberty.”
The Vigilant Citizen website, however, is having none of this. It goes on to expose the singer Beyonce Knowles as having been initiated into a demonic cult by her husband Jay-Z. It cites as evidence her transformation into Sasha Fierce, the dark and more sexual alter ego highlighted on her 2008 double-album I Am… Sasha Fierce.
In an interview, Beyonce said that Sasha Fierce first came to life in the video for her 2003 single Crazy for Love.
According to the anonymous Vigilant Citizen blogger, the Crazy for Love video depicts the birth of Sasha Fierce as a step-by-step Satanic transformation:
“Through symbolic scenes, we first see Beyonce walking towards a speeding car (with Jay-Z in the backseat)…Beyonce loosens up her hair to prepare herself and gets on a stage to begin initiation, symbolized by sexual dance moves. She then reaps the rewards of the selling of her soul with fame and fortune. Next, she is emulated by young girls who copy her dancing style.
In the final scene, the good Beyonce gets literally blown up while sitting in the backseat of [of the car]. After the explosion, Sasha Fierce magically appears next to Jay-Z, looking sexy, yet devilish. In his verse, Jay-Z refers to Beyonce as ‘Young B’ because she was just reborn.”
The Vigilant Citizen considers Beyonce’s Phoenix-like rise from the burning car as an initiatory transformation into a demon-possessed puppet of the Illuminati.
You could dismiss this as the ramblings of a conspiracy theorist. But in an interview with Marie Claire magazine, Beyonce revealed that she feels literally possessed by her alter-ego on stage:
“I’ve created an alter ego: things I do when performing I would never do normally. I reveal things about myself that I wouldn’t do in an interview. I have out-of-body experiences [on stage]. If I cut my leg, if I fall, I don’t even feel it. I’m so fearless, I’m not aware of my face or my body.”
My view on the Illuminati and Freemasonry
Whatever the truth about Jay-Z and Beyonce, it should be remembered that the Illuminati and Freemasonry were both generally emancipating influences on humanity – not sinister. The American Bill of Rights, for example, can be attributed to Masonic influence.
In some cases Masonic lodges have been party to political ends, sometimes good, sometimes bad. This is illustrated by the following list of known Freemasons: Mozart, Benjamin Franklin, J Edgar Hoover, Voltaire, FDR, Ronald Reagan and the Italian bank owners of the P2 lodge of Grand Orient Freemasonry (who laundered drug money for the Mafia and CIA in the 1970s).
So there’s good and bad – but the good has enriched our world.
