Hoodoo Glory Water is easy to make, and can be used in spells for success, victory and for removing negativity…

Whether you’re into hoodoo, voodoo, witchcraft or whatever, you will come across a whole ocean full of different waters for different purposes. From Peace Water, War Water, and Ghost Water, to Marie Laveau Water, Notre Dame Water. You almost feel like you need an inflatable dinghy to make your choice as to which one you need for what.

One of the classic hoodoo waters is Glory Water, even though you don’t often find reference to it nowadays. It’s become another one of those hidden treasures that I’ve found in my research.

So what is it used for? Well, Glory Water is used in spells for success, victory and removing negativity.  One constant that I came across is that it just ain’t Glory Water if it doesn’t contain orange blossom.

The American Anglican minister and folklorist Harry Middleton Hyatt stated that genuine Glory Water was only produced in Africa and Asia. The recipe he was given included honey, brown sugar and balm mixed with rain water, which was then used to anoint your body twice a day for 9 days. This was done whilst reciting an appropriate psalm, depending on what it was that you were seeking guidance with.

However, history has it that Agua de Gloria actually has its roots (no pun intended) in Hispanic culture and is produced by soaking the petals of a native orchid in water.

Whatever its true origins are, you can try to make you own if you wish, and all you need to do is use a blend of neroli water, bergamot essential oil, orange essential oil, orange blossom and frankincense “tears”, which are simply pieces of frankincense resin.

Once you have made your Glory Water, you can use it in a spray bottle around the house for general good luck. Providing you are not allergic to any of the ingredients, you can also spritz yourself with it. Due to its origins, it’s uses are probably best suited to purposes in which you may otherwise choose Holy Water.

If you mix yourself up a batch, be sure to let me know what you use it for, and what results you achieve!
