When you think of romantic pairings in history, some that immediately come to mind are Romeo and Juiet, Paris and Helena (remember her, whose face launched a thousand ships?), Odysseus and Penelope. But probably the greatest of all is Antony and Cleopatra. That one even spilled over into real time Love – who can forget the tempestuous but passionate relationship of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton?

So if you want to get yourself a Love like that (but with a happier ending), you could do far worse than look to the Egyptian culture for inspiration.

If you want to try to tug at the heartstrings of your beloved, this is what you will need:

  • 7 of your hairs
  • 1 pink candle
  • Piece of muslin or gauze, 3 inches by 3 inches
  • Piece of parchment paper of the same size
  • A small bowl filled with water (if you can use spring water or rainwater, so much the better)
  • A pinch of saffron, or if you can’t get this for any reason, you can use yellow food coloring.
  • A toothpick or dip pen

To perform this ritual, this is what you do.

Bless and consecrate your candle. Candle magic always calls for you to feel in tune with your candle. Light the candle carefully, and attune with the Fire energy which you are calling upon.

Next, dissolve the saffron or food coloring in the water, and using the toothpick or dip pen, write your name on the piece of parchment.

Place the hairs onto the parchment, and then carefully fold it in half, and then in half again so that you end up with a square which is 1½ inches by 1½ inches.

Try to clear your mind and focus solely on what you would like in a soulmate, and your wish to find true and lasting Love. When you feel the time is right, carefully wrap the parchment square in the piece of gauze or muslin, and then drip wax from the candle onto the talisman to seal it.

Once you feel that you have passed on your wishes to the divine powers, carefully snuff or blow out the candle, and make sure to thank them for their assistance as you do so.

An un-thanked deity is a not very cooperative deity, and that is well worth remembering …

You can sleep with this little packet of Love under your pillow, or keep it safely somewhere in your bedroom.

When your wish has come to pass, again give thanks to the spirits, and then return the talisman to nature, either by burying it, burning it or throwing it into running water.

So, if you would like your very own Antony or Cleopatra to feel such a binding Love for you that they speak words like these about you…

“Egypt, thou knew’st too well
My heart was to thy rudder tied by th’ strings,
And thou shouldst tow me after. O’er my spirit
Thy full supremacy thou knew’st, and that
Thy beck might from the bidding of the gods
Command me.”

…then this is the spell for you to try!
