Before There Were Words
Sixty thousand years ago, other humans walked this landscape.
Neanderthals.
They fashioned stone tools, lived among mammoths, and inhabited a world almost beyond imagination.
Then their world disappeared.
But the land remained.
Near Lynford Water in Norfolk, archaeologists discovered evidence of Neanderthal activity alongside the remains of ancient mammoths.
Nearby lie the abandoned villages of the Stanford military training area. There are tales of wild men, reports of strange lights, and stories of unexplained encounters across the surrounding country.
And there is something else.
Leave the main road near Mundford. Follow the lane into the woods.
The atmosphere changes.
You have entered GhostLand.

Halloween has become an industry of costumes, horror films and commercial spectacle.
But behind it lies something much older: the remembrance of the dead, the mystery of existence, and our connection to those who walked the world before us.
This All Hallows Eve, I will return to the Lynford landscape to conduct a special collective field working.
And you are invited to participate.
Submit one wish or intention.
I will incorporate it into the GhostLand working alongside the intentions of other participants.
Think of it as an old-world lucky charm, a symbolic wishing well, and an invitation to rediscover possibility.
A little magic. A little mystery. A journey into the ancient mind.

I conduct the GhostLand operation in the Lynford landscape, incorporating participants' intentions into one collective ritual.
November 1 — The Transmission
You receive an atmospheric spoken-word MP3, narrated by me over a visionary soundscape.
This is accompanied by the Deep Self Protocol: a simple practice in attention, imagination and personal intention.
After Halloween — The Field Dispatch
You receive my account of the operation, with observations and selected imagery from the GhostLand landscape.

A Different Kind of Working
GhostLand is not one of my individually focused operations, which begin at $375.
Those are bespoke undertakings, prepared around specific objectives and circumstances.
GhostLand is something different.
A shared seasonal experience. A symbolic wishing well. A piece of the old world brought into the present.
There are no guaranteed outcomes. The experience is intended to inspire imagination, reflection and renewed direction.
Sometimes the most useful thing we can do is step outside our habitual thinking, make a wish, and return to life with fresh eyes.
The Deep Self
Long before civilisation, there was awareness.
The ancient human mind navigated darkness, danger, uncertainty and landscapes filled with things it could not explain.
We are not those ancient humans. But our own minds still contain older patterns of perception, instinct and imagination.
Through focused attention and symbolic practice, we can explore our relationship with those deeper dimensions of experience.
This is one of the ideas behind Dokology: learning to observe the mind rather than simply being carried along by it.
GhostLand brings that exploration into an ancient landscape on the one night of the year traditionally associated with the ancestors.
The Road Ends. The Old World Begins.
The empty tracks. The dark tree lines. The ancient humans beneath the land. The abandoned villages beyond the woods.
And the curious feeling that you've crossed an invisible boundary.
